For businesses and online shops

Your shop has to be accessible. Since June 2025.

If you sell to consumers online or take bookings and orders, the European Accessibility Act generally applies to you. Check in a few seconds where your website stands.

The problem

Why you should act now

  • 28 June 2025

    The obligation already applies

The European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882, has applied to e-commerce services for consumers across the EU since 28 June 2025. There is no transition period for websites.

  • €60,000

    Each country enforces it

Member states appoint their own authorities and set their own penalties. In Ireland, for example, a conviction on indictment can mean a fine of up to €60,000, and a consumer can ask the Circuit Court to order a business to comply.

  • 95.9%

    Almost every website has errors

In the 2026 WebAIM study, 95.9% of the home pages examined had barriers that can be detected automatically. The question is rarely whether, but how many.

Does the Act apply to you? Microenterprises that provide services are exempt (fewer than 10 persons and an annual turnover or balance sheet total of no more than €2 million). Services offered only to other businesses are not covered either. The EAA check settles it in three questions; the background is in the article on the European Accessibility Act, and the Irish rules are in Accessibility law in Ireland.

Accessibility helps every one of your customers.

The opportunity

What you gain

  • More people can buy from you

People with disabilities and many older customers struggle with small type, weak contrast and forms that cannot be used with a keyboard.

  • A website that is easier to use

Clear structure, readable contrast and keyboard operation do not only help people with disabilities. They make the path to purchase easier for everyone.

  • Evidence on file

The audit report and the accessibility statement document what you have done. That is your basis when an authority or a customer asks.

The solution

How Libration Accessibility helps you

Libration Accessibility starts where barriers arise: in the source code. The widget for visitors comes on top.

  1. Scan

The free scan shows you in a few seconds where your website stands.

  2. Install

The plugin runs in WordPress. The free version is enough to get started.

  3. Fix

Technical barriers are fixed in the source code. You approve the AI’s suggestions yourself.

  4. Document

The audit report and the accessibility statement record what has been achieved.

Example: a fix in the source code
<!-- before -->- <nav>- <input type="email" placeholder="Email">- <th>Price</th> <!-- after -->+ <a href="#main">Skip to main content</a>+ <nav aria-label="Main navigation">+ <input type="email" aria-label="Email"+        autocomplete="email">+ <th scope="col">Price</th>
  • Fixes in the code

Skip links, focus order and labels for forms and buttons are fixed in the source code, not just covered up.

  • Audit report as PDF

A WCAG/EAA checklist with progress, plus a report you can file and show.

  • Accessibility statement

The statement is generated from your audit status and published on your website.

  • AI alt texts

Missing image descriptions for product images are created automatically; you approve them.

  • Monthly check

Your website is checked regularly from the outside. If something gets worse, you receive an email.

  • Aids for visitors

Contrast, text size, read-aloud: the widget is an addition for your customers, not a replacement for the fixes.

What no plugin can do: make a website compliant automatically. Colour contrast in the design, understandable text and the structure of your pages remain with you or your agency. Libration shows you what is still open and guides you through the remaining steps.

Write to us
Is an overlay widget enough to meet the European Accessibility Act?

No. The European Disability Forum and the IAAP stated in 2023 that overlays do not make a website accessible or compliant with European accessibility legislation. That is why Libration Accessibility fixes the code first; the widget comes on top.

Does it work with WooCommerce and my theme?

Libration Accessibility is a WordPress plugin and runs with common themes and page builders. For special cases you talk directly to the developer.

My website does not run on WordPress. What then?

The free scan works for any website and shows you where you stand. The plugin itself requires WordPress.

How quickly am I up and running?

The free version is installed in a few minutes. If you are short of time, we handle the setup at a fixed price.

How accessible is your shop?

The scan takes a few seconds, costs nothing and needs no sign-up.
